OnePlus 3 or Google Nexus 6P / 5X? Which one you should buy ?
OnePlus has launched their latest Android flagship smartphone in India at a price of Rs 27,999. For that price, you are getting the fastest processor currently available - Snapdragon 820, and comes with 6GB of ram. It comes with Android 6 Marshmallow based Oxygen OS which is a close to Stock Android version.
Nexus 6P / Nexus 5X on the other hand has less attractive specs comparing to OnePlus 3. 6P is powered by last year's flagship processor Snapdragon 810 and only has half the ram OnePlus 3 has - 3GB. 5X is powered by mid range Snapdragon 808 hexa core processor and only has 2GB of ram.
Nexus 5X 16GB price currently is around 25K in India and 32GB will cost around 28K online. Lowest price seen for Nexus 6P was Rs 31,999 during an offer on Flipkart. So when you compare the specs and prices of these devices, it would be easy to conclude OnePlus 3 is the best value for money one out there.
6GB RAM ? Do yo really need it ?
If you play high end games and run super high end memory hungry apps, this 6GB ram would be a good thing to have. However, if you are a general user, you dont need 6GB of ram, 2GB ram is more that enough for your day to day tasks and casual gaming.
Btw OnePlus 3 is not in reality using all those 6GB of ram for apps. Read more on that here.
One Big Reason to Buy a Nexus 5X or Nexus 6P over OnePlus 3
The one big reason to buy Nexus 6P or 5X over OnePlus 3 is the software updates. You can already test out the latest Android N. You will get OTA updates to the next major update as well - let's call it Android O. These Nexus devices will get software update for at least September 2017 and will get monthly security update for another year.
So if you really want the most secure Android smartphone and want to run the latest Android version before anyone else, go grab a Nexus 6P or 5X. Nothing is smoother than a good Android smartphone running Stock Android.
